Italian umbrellas that win globalization

What’s the best gift for birthdays, anniversaries or just to say thank you?

I want something sophisticated, unusual, that you don’t see everyday. Something to amaze even those who have everything. An umbrella? Yes, that’s right: an umbrella. The one we buy from street vendors when it rains, that is usually bad, cheap, exactly like a hundred thousand more. In Italy there’s a woman who followed her mother’s steps and is now the queen of umbrellas: Eva Giacomini.

Eva is the daughter of Ernesta Pasotti, portrayed in the picture and founder of Pasotti, a company that produces and exports 40,000 umbrellas a year in the globalized world. During the 50s Ernesta Pasotti, after being an employee of an umbrella factory in Milano, returned to her native village in the countryside of Modena and started her own business in an ex farm-building. There she began to produce her own umbrellas, which she personally sold from the seat of a scooter.

An Italian story, from generation to generation.

Eva’s umbrellas are stunning. Look at the catalogue to convince yourself. Women’s, men’s, foldable, custom-made, double, with silver handles, in precious wood, colourful, animalier, iridescent…they are all beautiful. These are our favourites from the gallery.

What about yours? Besides umbrellas, everything at Pasotti’s speaks of attention, research, precious materials and details. The sticks are gorgeous. The shoehorns are like art pieces.

Brava Eva!
