Villa Frisio in Ponza

Home holidays

The journey begins

8:00 am. The ferry leaves the Anzio port, 60 km from Rome, directed to the Pontine Island: Ponza, Palmarola, Gavi, Zannone, Ventotene and Santo Stefano, wild natural wonders of the Lazio coast. Italy is so beautiful! The islands stand on the horizon, as small mountains on the vast plain of the sea.

Here’s Ponza: the coast is high, precipitous. The steep cliffs look like huge pumice stones, white and porous. Vegetation grows in patches along the walls, hanging like defenceless bunches. The sea has an emerald colour. The boat docks at the Bourbon port. The village reminds me of Greece, with its perched pastel-coloured houses.

Villa Frisio

Villa Frisio

You can glimpse its terrace gardens from the ferry. Villa Frisio is an enchanted place, like a stage for a peaceful act. The huge windows frame the sea, introducing it to the living room. Every detail is just perfect.

The furniture, in harmonic colours, reflects the exquisite taste of the owner. The bougainvillea, lemons and Mediterranean scrubs appear from the white walls surrounding the small swimming pool and sprout here and there from the bedroom windows. There’s no need for a siren’s song to make you fall in love with this place.
